Case Studies

Gillham, Golbeck has built professional long-term relationships with some of the most respected companies in commercial real estate. We take pride in having earned our solid reputation for integrity and success.

Here are just a few examples of how Gillham, Golbeck & Associates has delivered top talent to our clients.

CASE 1Ongoing Relationships

Challenge

A firm that had just acquired its first suburban office buildings in Dallas called Rick Gillham 17 years ago asking if he could help them find a Director of Leasing. That was the start of a long-standing partnership. Our challenge has been to help them grow from a small investment group to a full-blown real estate company that acquires and develops commercial properties in multiple markets.

Response

In each assignment we partner with clients to understand not only their hiring needs, but their culture and preferences. This has helped us successfully fill positions in every part of this group's organization. Over the years, Gillham Golbeck has placed more than 20 professionals and executives in this group; they continue to depend on our recruiting expertise to this day.

"Who could have known that a handful of people could grow into almost 200 employees in four states? Without your help we might never have found key people that made this happen."

CASE 2Unique Requests

Challenge

A prestigious national commercial real estate company called Jamie Smith and said, "We bought a 500-acre uninhabited island in the Caribbean which will represent over a billion dollar master plan for an exclusive resort destination development. We need the right team to make this happen now!"

Response

Jamie's first challenge was to find a Resort Development Executive who had developed and built billion dollar projects. She identified and placed the perfect international candidate for this position, and after six months of dedicated, nationwide searching, she added eight more development, marketing, design and construction professionals to his team.

"We couldn't be more pleased with the team of professionals assembled for this development. Jamie's national network of contacts and determination to find exactly the right talent really paid off for us."

CASE 3Complicated Assignments

Challenge

The CEO of a new development company who had worked with Lois Golbeck in the past asked her to find a Senior Vice President of Development and Marketing for the group. Times were good and people had many options. The challenge was to talk someone into leaving a really good company to go to work for a start-up group with a bright future, but no track record.

Response

Undaunted, Lois called upon her vast network of contacts. Because she knew the kind of people who would work well with this CEO, Lois found two top candidates. He liked them equally and hired them both. The CEO then asked Lois to recruit key support personnel. Lois' bull's-eye recruiting has produced a home run for the company and a winning season.

"I've learned my lesson on the value of having a trusted recruiter involved in this. I couldn't have imagined a group that gets along better or has such a complimentary set of talents."

CASE 4Opening a New Market

Challenge

A 90-year-old general contracting company based in Chicago received a $30 million contract to renovate a courthouse in Cincinnati. They saw it as an opportunity to open a new office for their growing organization. Individuals in Cincinnati with restoration experience, self-perform expertise and business management skills could be hard to find...but not for Mike Miller.

Response

Mike Miller, a specialist in construction and development placements, identified all the major companies and competitors who were capable of doing the restoration project and spoke to persons of interest in each one. His determination and resourcefulness ultimately produced an ideal candidate who was hired and has done an excellent job.

"Mike proved his value by helping us successfully enter the Cincinnati market. We will certainly call on him again when we want to grow into another market."
